Yoshi-P, is that you? Yoshida is Spotted by FFXIV Players in Mana PVP Matches

You can change your adventurer plates and you don’t have to be a dick at the chat — Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida could be surprising players in Crystalline Conflict PVP matches on Japan’s Mana Data Center. We have a sighting report on FF14 that shows “Yoshi’p Sampo”, who is queueing up for both ranked and regular matches. This name is reserved for the FFXIV boss.

Yoshida’s smiling Lalafell appeared in at least some rounds of FFXIV‘s latest PVP mode. The screenshots show that it appears to be him. Although there is no official confirmation, Yoshi’p Sampo’s character name belonged to the game’s director and producer, and we have seen HTMLXIV channels announce their visits. He appears to have won a few fights and lost some. His DPS is far superior to mine in Crystalline Conflict.

Yoshida’s Lalafell, however, is quite precious. It looks like a little goblin creature that smiles and does not care. Take a look at this face.

Some people question the legitimacy of Yoshi’s Sampo name, while others bring up other aliases in PVP encounters that were shared on Twitter and Reddit. Although Yoshida has used only “Naoki Yoshida” in some instances, this tag is one that he’s been using for years to wait for unexpected sightings in nature. He’s been seen at many FFXIV regional data centers joining players in the most difficult MMO encounters or simply hanging out for a few photos. He is also quite proficient in Savage raids.

According to what we can gather, Yoshida stayed with his Mandragora Character on Mana during today’s PVP matchups. For those who are curious about his name, you will still be able to see his mischievous Lala on all servers, including Aegis and Carbuncle. It’s important to ensure that it’s correctly stylized and doesn’t have any special characters. As you can see, characters will change it up a little to pretend to be FFXIV. Yoshida also has special icons that denote his status in the game, but these are inconsistent and official appearances have not seen him with an icon.

I’m currently over on Primal so I don’t think I will see Yoshida anytime soon. However, I keep getting the horrifying thought that someone I respect might see me in my worst behavior in FFXIV PVP. I am not being inflammatory or anything. I just have terrible PVP skills and my Miqo’te has her entire booty out. If you are a player on Japan’s Data Centers then maybe tone down the debauched adventurer plates, and dress to impress.
