The upcoming Path to Exile: Sentinel expansion will not make any changes in classes. It will maintain the same balance as last season. Chris Wilson, a producer for Grinding Gear Games, announced the news during the Livestream on May 5. He assured players that there would be no need to make changes or create new builds.

This is a rare occurrence for Path of Exile, as there are always a lot of new releases, especially for classes. Wilson was a part of the media briefing a few days before the live stream. The studio views it as an experiment they want to continue trying for a while as they know that new releases can invalidate built games. People must look for new builds before each expansion or challenge league. They recognize that not all players are interested in exploring new classes and figuring out the best builds. However, some may be concerned about whether they are following the correct build.

Wilson hopes the experiment will help reduce the “degree of decision paralysis” when a new release is imminent, and there are many complicated changes. Wilson stated that the experiment was being conducted here. “This is not necessarily going to happen again, but it is an example of how we don’t change anything.” We intend to determine whether players are excited by the certainty that will work, whether they can see build guides on announcement day or today, and be certain that those builds will still function, and whether that’s something they consider a positive in their lives.

Although it’s too early to know how this will impact the game’s overall experience, the developer is optimistic that players will find the decision to be positive. They’ll allow players to “mix it up on occasion in the future,” where certain releases will have balance changes, and some will remain static. This will appeal to both the male and female players. He said, “It’s crucial for us to answer that question about what happens if the balance isn’t changed.”

Wilson mentioned Diablo 2 Resurrected as a recent example for an ARPG that didn’t change anything from the original release. Wilson stated that they are making post-release balance adjustments now. However, “players knew exactly what to expect” so we will have to wait to see how the free-to play ARPG goes during Path of Exile. Sentinel.
