It was announced last week that Warner Bros. were having a significant company shake-up due to the resignation of its chairman. Emmerich was elected president and chief content officer in 2017. He had been chairman of the company since 2018. (Thanks to Wikipedia) This means that he had overseen the entire production of the studio for the past four years.

After the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery, David Zaslav, the CEO, is taking over the reins. He is planning to do a significant reshaping. The Wrap reports that Warner Bros. will be split into three divisions: Warner Bros., New Line, DC Entertainment, and Warner Animation.

According to Superman’s homepage, Wrap’s DC insider claimed that Zaslav instructed his team “scratch all Superman projects in development and started new with [Henry] Cavill.” This is for a new movie. There’s no other plan than getting Cavill at its center. This is undoubtedly exciting.

We learned last year that Ta-Nehisi Coates was hired to write a script about a Superman reboot. J.J. Abrams-produced. It was also rumored that Warner Bros. wanted a Black director and an actor to play the role of Superman. If these rumors about Zaslav’s plans prove true, it would suggest that the reboot could be scrapped. This would have been a shame.

Superman Homepage says that it is unlikely that these plans will stop the Superman & Lois series. However, we’ll have to wait to see. This information is not official, so please take it with a grain of salt.
