HoYoverse Announces Genshin Impact Version “Still under Development”

Despite some fan complaints, developer HoYoverse has confirmed that its Genshin Impair Nintendo Switch release is still in the works.

The developer of one of the most beloved games in the world, GoNintendo stated that the game was still being developed. A HoYoverse representative confirmed that the Switch version was still being developed. “We will provide more information as we move forward.”

The Genshin Impact handheld version was first revealed in 2020. It has been little discussed beyond its initial trailer. The free-to-play gacha RPG is only currently available on Sony platforms, PC and mobile. However, it has added other PC stores like Epic Games Store and an updated PlayStation 5 version since the initial launch.

HoYoverse has a consistent release schedule. It releases new characters, story arcs, and full event cycles to RPG every six to 7 weeks. HoYoverse has been able to keep its updates on schedule despite the increased delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Switch release status is an exception in an era with more game delays. Fanbyte was informed by the developer that the Genshin Impair Version 2.2.7 launch had been delayed due to “project progress,” and no new date has been set.

Genshin Impair players will receive compensation to cover the delay in the update. The Switch version is a bit more complicated, and the company’s statement made to GoNintendo remains all we have now. Players have been expecting delays in the RPG due to COVID-related lockdowns in some of China’s largest cities, including Shanghai. While restrictions are starting to be eased as China reduces its population, it is still difficult for developers to learn how to adapt and stay within the COVID guidelines.

It’s too much to say. While it’s great that there are still plans to release Genshin IMPACT Switch, we should not get too excited about the idea at this time due to extenuating circumstances. Crunch culture is a problem in the industry. Adding the dangers of a pandemic to it certainly doesn’t help. We may see some improvements on the console once the update work is completed on time, but for now, the game works fine on mobile devices.
