FFXIV Countdown to the 9th Anniversary Celebrations (for A Realm Reborn).
Nothing is better than a good birthday celebration. Final Fantasy XIV has begun celebrating its 9th year. This is not the Anniversary of the original MMO release, which took place on September 30, 2010. We’re referring to A Reborn, which was released on August 27, 2013.
The FFXIV team started a countdown to August 27, 2022. This date will be a Saturday in North America. The FFXIVaccount has shared high-res images from the game to celebrate. Thancred, in his Gunbreaker outfit, was the first piece of art. The art by Y’shtola followed. It is closer to Thancred’s in-game appearance than the fan art.
We should soon hear the announcement about this year’s Iteration of The Rising. The event is usually decorated in the main cities. A seasonal quest also rewards cosmetics such as minions, furnishing or fashion items. Sometimes, the event features an in-game avatar from Naoki Yoshida, creative director and lead producer. A Hyur that looks similar to Yoshida. This is not to be confused with his Lalafell character, which we have seen in Live Letter streams. The Yoshida stand-in can often share poetic words with the player during event quests. Sometimes, he even breaks the fourth wall to show appreciation FFXIVitself.
This is the 9th Anniversary. The next significant milestone for FFXIV will be in 223. August 27, 2023, will mark the 10th Anniversary. It will not surprise me if we receive more information and teasers leading into Patch 7.0 and the next expansion. We expect to see this sometime in the second half of next year. FFXIV was released in June, July and August before Endwalker. Endwalker was delayed, but it was finally released in December. If the FFXIV team keeps the current schedule, it will put the 10th Anniversary just in time for Patch 6.5. This would open the door for the next expansion later in the year or early in 2024.
Yoshida already hinted at the path to Patch 7.0 and teased the 7.0 graphical overhaul. However, there is still plenty of FFXIV soon! Patch6.2 will be available on August 23. This is just a week away.
