Overview Warpips
Warpips would be what Command, Conquer, and Nexus Wars would look like if they had a baby made of tanks and napalm. Let’s lose the engine of warfare and witness the chaos of physics-based combat explode onto your battlefield! You can choose from various infantry, aircraft, and vehicles to build your army. You can deploy troops, launch missiles, and call down airstrikes without micromanaging. Although I enjoy real-time strategy, the top eSports games are a little too complicated for me.
I feel incompetent when I try to compete with Starcraft and Age of Empires. While these games are great tests of skill, managing the unit’s abilities, position in battle, counters, and economy back home is too overwhelming. I prefer RTSes, which simplify the process by removing some of the systems to manage. Warpips, an RTS, is a simplified version of the classic RTS. However, unlike other games, it does not require tactical positioning. Instead, levels are a linear tug-of-war between two sides.
Pre-Installed Warpips:
Warpips seemed a little too simple for me. However, my worries were unfounded. There are many decisions to be made. There are many choices to make. These include unit counters, global abilities and tradeoffs between short-term economy and quick-term unit rushes. There is a meta-progression in campaign mode where units have a fixed number and can be unlocked. This creates a strategic tension that allows you to decide whether to use the team now or wait for a map with more uses. One complaint is that Warpips can only be used by single players. PvP would make this a great game. The ‘endless mode’ is less engaging than I expected. Because the gameplay encourages you forward, you may spend many minutes in ‘endless’ with your units parked at the enemy base doing little to no exciting things.
