PlayStation Plus, as we all know, will be ending next month. But not really. Sony’s long-running subscription services are now tier-based. This model offers sharp new benefits depending upon how much you are willing to pay.

If they decide not to play anymore, they won’t be required to. PlayStation Plus Essential will continue to be the PlayStation Plus with its monthly free games, and online multiplayer. This will be the lowest of the three tiers, while Extra and Premium offer all sorts of new goodies.

It remains to be seen if Extra and Premium will have an impact on the quality of Essential’s monthly free games. However, it is a good time to reflect on the greatest games PlayStation Plus subscribers have enjoyed over the years. This is the chronological order. Because I’m too tired of ranking things or starting arguments.

Rocket League sells itself. What’s not to like? Zooming around in rocket cars and launching a huge football across a stadium is a great way to have fun. It’s easy to learn, but difficult to master Rocket League which launched in July 2015 as a free game to subscribers is undoubtedly a key part of its ongoing huge success.

Although some of the dialogue may sound like it was written undercover by a local high school geography teacher, the heartfelt angst of Life Is Strange resonated with a whole generation of gamers. It’s an amazing adventure with a great mystery and richly drawn characters. There are also some difficult choices to make. This is a must-play. Until Dawn was a terrifying, bloody, and brutal addition to the PlayStation Plus library in July 2017. Supermassive Games’ interactive slasher thriller was suddenly becoming a popular choice for gamers not interested in horror. I won’t even try to hide my feelings here.

Bloodborne is one of the most beloved video games ever created. I downloaded it on PlayStation Plus in 2018, and it was a game that I urged every one of my PlayStation 4-owning friends to play. It’s beautiful, terrifying, and extremely challenging. An all-timer. Like Bloodborne, I’m passionate about Rayman Legends to anyone who will listen. It’s my opinion, is one of the most innovative 2D platformers ever created. Ubisoft seems to have lost sight of this franchise. We can become friends if you downloaded Rayman Legendsback 2018 and fell in love.
