Rollerdrome Is Perfect For Steam Deck

It is fascinating to see how games can be improved simply by changing an existing formula and adding guns. Palworld has been a massive success for its appearance as a game that makes Jigglypuff a Kalashnikov. But it’s the rollerskating and rampaging Rollerdrome which has captured my attention the most. Rollerdrome, if you have a Steam Deck, is the perfect alternative to your childhood’s extreme sports games.

Rollerdrome was developed by Roll7, the creators of the hugely popular OlliOlli series. It is an action game that is equally brutal and set in a future where bloodsport is all the buzz. Kara Hassan is a new player in this violent crowd-pleaser. You will be trying to climb the ranks, one wallride into a kickflip into an explosive shotgun blast, while Roll7 developed Rollerdrome. All you have to do to get on your rollerskates is tap A or X on the controller. Pressing B or circle will allow you to jump. Pressing X or square in any direction will enable you to grab. You can also modify the grab with RB and R.

Tricks are not just for fun but also serve a purpose. It’s incredibly satisfying to dodge and duck out of the way of fire while you do the same. Then, perform a trick midair to earn enough points to reload the grenade launcher and rain down mayhem from the sky. All this in a matter of seconds. The game’s main objective is to eliminate all enemies in your path, and the last enemy will be thrown over in their arcade glory. You can also try to score high by collecting combo coins and killing more enemies.

Additionally, you can tie moves together by wall-riding and grinding in the arena. There are also THPS-esque challenges where you must complete certain feats such as killing enemies while performing tricks, racking up a huge combo, etc. For those who love rollerdrome’s destructive dystopia, there is plenty of replayability.

Rollerdrome has a distinctive, eye-catching aesthetic that can only be described as “rotoscoped melamine.” Despite having some flat textures, the environments look vibrant and beautiful. The game’s low-performance requirements make it an excellent choice for the Steam Deck. The Deck’s LCD screen is bright and vibrant, and the action is smooth at 60 fps. Rollerdrome is easy to use and can be carried around with you. It’s a fast and intense shooter that requires no hand movements. It’s not difficult to see many people playing on their Deck, and I will be one of them.

It’s important to mention that Rollerdrome is a reasonably easy game to learn but not easy for everyone. These are OlliOlli developers, after all.

You’ll find that the game is essentially a towering challenge curve, and it will throw you into chaos at any moment. Even in the game’s early stages, you can barely catch your breath and must be on the “on” button from the first moment your skates begin to spin. It’s hard to express yourself sometimes with so many annoying enemies and so much to do. You must keep up with them and avoid their attacks as often as possible.

Rollerdrome can be a bit exhausting for some players. However, those who love My Friend Pedro and Neon white will find Rollerdrome a great obsession starting August 16th.
