Straypublisher Annapurna Interactive teamed up to raise funds for IRL homeless cats. You are not crying.

Stray is likely something you already know. After years of hype and viral videos, the game was released earlier this week. Players play the role of a lost cat in a strange sci-fi city as they try to find their way back home. The game is meant to help real-life stray cats.

Annapurna joined forces with Nebraska Humane Society, Cats Protection and others to encourage gamers to donate so they can be in the running for a chance at winning a code to Stray. It’s important to note that the draw for the NHS competition is now closed. However, it’s great to see a game doing real good. This is especially true if the good directly benefits cats, one of the most important life forms on the planet.

You still have a chance of winning a PS4/PS5code by Cats Protection. The UK-based charity will give away six game copies and announce the winners on July 22. Cats Protection is offering a free draw. However, Cats Protection asks that you donate as much as you can. Through streams and other events, those who sign up for the program are asked to fundraise for kittens and cats in need. You can sign up here and learn more.

Stray is available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. My review gave the game a 9/10. It was described as a “stunningly funny and thoroughly entertaining adventure”. It’s a must-see.
