Grand Theft Auto VI’s release remains one of, if not the most-awaited games ever seen on console.

Rockstar Games announced GTA VI development back in February 2022 and recently faced widespread backlash among its fan base due to a number of leaks which forced Rockstar Games into responding.

Rockstar Games has yet to provide fans any concrete information other than an announcement of GTA VI being in development, forcing us to rely mostly on speculation and rumor mill.

Rumor has it that GTA VI will take us back to Vice City – with some regions of South America also featured as possible locations – as well as featuring two playable protagonists named Jason and Lucia who may take after Bonnie & Clyde’s famed criminal duo from history.

However, this latest rumor could be one of the largest yet, and should give console owners cause for alarm. A tweet shared by GTA 6 News indicates that an anonymous GTA leaker claims Grand Theft Auto 6 requires an unprecedented file size of 750GB with over 400 hours of gameplay!

First and foremost, 400 hours of gameplay should keep players engrossed throughout; but issuing such a file size is excessive – especially as PC and console gamers face similar limitations on storage capacity. If these reports prove true it could pose major obstacles.

PS5 users who reportedly plan on installing GTA VI may only have 667GB available after system files occupy approximately 158GB – leaving little space left over after this game’s installation! Meanwhile, Xbox Series X and Series S Carbon Black models provide better options: the former has 1TB SSD internal hard drives which reserve only 198GB to system files; leaving 802GB available to players as of GTA VI’s release date.

Unfortunately for owners of standard Series S (white model), GTA VI may never come out for release on your mini console with its 512GB SSD hard drive – or at least until additional SSD internal storage becomes available from PS5 and SSD expansion cards are made available to Xbox Series X|S. To avoid storage problems you could consider investing in external hard drives for both platforms to ease up this potential storage crunch issue.

With that being said, as is usually the case when dealing with unconfirmed reports and speculation, we should take these rumors and speculation with a grain of salt until proven otherwise. GTA VI shouldn’t require an enormous 750GB storage requirement? Let’s hope not!

Take-Two Interactive has suggested that Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive may release GTA VI by 2025 as their only game this generation.

Grand Theft Auto VI will likely be made available for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
