Elder Scrolls VI might still come out for PlayStation 5, even after Starfield made a successful debut as an Xbox exclusive title.

As Starfield’s exclusive Xbox launch quickly recedes into memory, Bethesda fans may turn their focus toward The Elder Scrolls VI – recently moving beyond pre-production planning stages and into full development as its next title due to be released by Bethesda.

Bethesda executive Todd Howard has already made lofty predictions that Starfield will provide gamers with years of content while serving as the “ultimate fantasy world simulator.” Additionally, this could possibly be his last game working at Bethesda.

Even though its release remains many years away, fans have already started discussing what kind of game will come out and who might get to enjoy it.

As is well-known, Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media – which owned Bethesda – in 2021, leading to Starfield being exclusively released for Xbox Series X/S console. Fans strongly anticipate that all future Bethesda titles such as Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 may also become exclusives on Microsoft platforms.

Recently, Xbox boss Phil Spencer addressed this debate; although his answer was vague and generally negative to The Elder Scrolls VI making its debut on Sony platforms.

Phil Spencer recently stated in an interview with Bloomberg: “With each game we build, we take an individual approach… our aim is to ensure they’re accessible across different devices such as Xbox consoles and PCs; additionally they could come via cloud.”

Spencer continued: “Millions and millions of players will gain access to Starfield and other Xbox Game Studios titles, providing them with choice in how and when they choose to play while building up their library of titles.”

Starfield was Bethesda’s first entirely new IP since decades. Microsoft might decide it’s better for sales and brand image reasons to keep The Elder Scrolls multi-platform?

Time will only tell as The Elder Scrolls VI currently doesn’t have an exact release date or window set aside for its availability on Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms.
