Destiny 2 Outlines Plans to Address PVP Quitters & Poor Online Connections
The studio highlighted some worrying trends in Destiny 2’s Crucible PVP game mode and offered some suggestions to fix them. Players leaving matches before the end is the main problem, either because they have poor connections or losing too often.
According to the post, the number of players who quit before the end of a Crucible game has increased from 8% – 12% over the past week. This leaves the remaining players at a disadvantage. Bungie said it is still investigating whether this is due to a particular cohort or playstyle or if it is a natural reaction of players to a new system. This refers to the skill-based matchmaking which began in the current season. The team is currently working on the following solutions.
“We will extend the time that loose SBMM will wait and wait to ensure the best quality connection between leaders of the group. This will hopefully increase the relationship quality when matchmaking takes longer than two minutes.
“We are working on new analytics to give us a better view of the connection quality among all players in matches, not just the group leaders.”
“We will be adding quitter protection for Control in a future patch. We hope to discuss more in a future TWAB.”
