Dark Souls II, an action role-playing video game developed by FromSoftware, is published by Bandai Namco Games.
Dark Souls II maintains the same mechanics as its predecessors in Souls. Standard enemies and bosses can both kill the player quickly, making Dark Souls II a difficult game. Bad behavior is punishable by most enemies. There are very few opportunities to recover health. As in Demon’s Souls, each death reduces the player’s maximum level of health (to a lower limit) until the player spends rare items to reverse the effect.
The game uses “souls”, a type of joint currency, which can be used to purchase items in shops and as experience points for leveling up. The player’s entire collection is destroyed upon death. However, they can retrieve their souls by going back to the place where they died. If they do not return, they will be permanently lost.
Dark Souls II’s multiplayer uses the same format as its predecessors. Players have the option of playing in cooperative mode, where they are “summoned” into another person’s game world, or in player-versus-player mode by “invading” other players’ worlds. Although both forms of multiplayer are pseudo-random, matchmaking formulas can be used to pair characters with similar levels.
