Cuphead is a classic run-and-gun game that focuses heavily on boss battles. The visuals and audio were inspired by cartoons from the 1930s. They are meticulously made using the same techniques as the era. Traditional hand-drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings. You can play as Cuphead (in single-player, or in local co-op), and explore strange worlds. The game’s art style is a tribute to 1930’s cartoons. The gameplay mechanics are a mix of 90’s side-scrolling shoot-em-ups such as Contra, Metal Slug, and Gunstar Heros. While there are some ‘Run and Gun” levels that involve platforming, collecting coins, and shooting/avoiding enemies, the main focus of the game is on the boss battles. Each one is very different from the previous one.
