Claudio Castagnoli wins the ROH World Championship
Blackpool Combat Club enjoyed a great weekend in the world of wrestling, with Bryan Danielson confirming his return to the ring for Wednesday and a vast championship win in Ring of Honor. Claudio Castagnoli versus Johnathan Gresham was the Ring of Honor World Championship match, which took place on the Death before Dishonor card. Many believed that the former Cesaro would win the match as part of his return to the indie scene.
That’s precisely what Castagnoli did. Castagnoli won his first ever World Championship during his triumphant return from ROH. He and Gresham created a technical masterclass, which I highly recommend. Claudio was hailed as a hero at the end of the match. This was a career highlight for the 22-year-old tenured veteran.
BCC is now covered in gold. Claudio’s ROH victory and Wheeler Yuta and Jon Moxleys interim AEW Championship. This stable is not going to fade into infamy anytime soon.
Claudio Castagnoli will now bring ROH Championship to episodes on AEW television. He is likely to defend it on a regular base to increase the prestige of a championship that is often overlooked.
