BeamNG. Driving is the game for YOU!
BeamNG. is an open-world vehicle simulator. It can simulate everything, from a delivery mission with a box truck to a high-speed rally race or destruction derby. You can customize and modify your vehicle to make it your own. We want to add more gameplay than just racing and crashing. This includes stunt challenges, police chases, and other minigames. We would love to see a single-player open-world career with permanent vehicle ownership, procedurally generated used cars to buy, and events to run them in.
In some ways, BeamNG. The driver allows you to do anything with a car or truck that other games don’t allow you to. With beautiful soft-body simulation physics, you can either go off-roading with your family sedan or drive a delivery truck around a racing circuit. These same vehicles can be modified to become racing beasts, derby monsters, or off-road behemoths. Or you can smash their stock. BeamNG. Drive lets you play the game that interests you, but it doesn’t force or make you do anything you don’t find interesting.
Future of the game and our new physics engine
As our game is optimized and computer technology improves, we will be able to simulate more vehicles simultaneously with a smooth framerate. You can run up to six cars simultaneously on a quad-core processor with high performance. Each vehicle is equipped with around 400 nodes, 4000 beams and can be simulated 2000 times per minute. With a processor of mid-range performance, we hope to increase the number of possible simultaneous vehicles to at least 8.
While we will be looking at multiplayer in the future, it may take some time to offer the multiplayer experience everyone expects. We know the demand for multiplayer is real, and we want it as much as you do. However, for now, we will be focusing on single-player careers, various driving events, and fixing bugs. In the interim, it is possible to implement local or same-PC multiplayer.
The possibilities go beyond land vehicles. Our community has already created planes and helicopters that fly only with the vehicle’s aerodynamic physics. Soft-body physics allows BeamNG to simulate aircraft authentically. BeamNG models all the flex in an actual plane’s airframe. The consequences of excessive stress can also be modeled. If you fly too fast, your wings may begin to bend or rip off. There is a lot of potential in the BeamNG physics engine.
