‘Stray’ Already Has A Staggering Number Of Players On Steam
I bet you have heard of a new cat game. Stray. It’s no secret that people are obsessed with cats. So it was not surprising that a realistic cat simulator felt like a sure success. Despite this, I doubt anyone could have predicted Stray’s popularity.
PlayStation owners can now grab Stray free – even if they don’t have a PlayStation Plus account. Ewan said Stray was “stunningly creative, funny and filled with moments which genuinely made me drop my jaw.” The figures back up this praise. Stray officially broke the Steam records.

Stray is Annapurna Interactive’s largest PC launch. Official Steam figures for the title confirm that Stray had 62,963 players on its initial release day. This is quite a feat for an indie title. Stray was one of the 13 most played games on Steam that day. (Thanks VGC).
Benji Sales, a market analyst, noted that Annapurna Interactive had previously broken the Steam record by Twelve minutes with a peak concurrent player count of 8,021. This was followed by Outer Wilds, which stood at 7,936, and Neon White which stood at 3,277. And Journey, which stood at 1,757.
BlueTwelve Studio, the game’s developers, introduced its three feline stars to fans last week. They were Murtaugh Oscar Jun. Since then, I haven’t stopped thinking about Jun as the studio’s “executive general president commander chief director officer”.
This game is adorable. But what warms my heart is the Stray developers raising money for homeless cats. Is there a better game? I don’t think so.
