We are again destroying Chaos, but this time we’re doing it as Sophia, Neon and Ash. The Stranger of Paradise DLC will expand its single-player roster. Square Enix announced that Trials of the Dragon King does not lock the single-player experience to Jack Final Fantasy.

The strangely charming action RPG Team Ninja has added a new series of trials from the Dragon King, Bahamut, on July 20. The Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin DLC includes four main missions and nine side missions. There are also two boss battles and the Bahamut difficulty. Square Enix states that solo adventurers are no longer restricted to Jack Garland. With the DLC, instead, you can roam as Sophia, Neon or Ash in singleplayer.

Before the update, you could only play as Jack or any other member of Jack’s squad by hopping into multiplayer. Even then, Mr Garland was the host player for the run. Any changes made to Jack were still dependent on him. Finally, I will be spending a lot more time with Sophia.

Trials of the Dragon King will be the first of three DLC extensions to Stranger of Paradise. Season passes also include new jobs like Summoner (you have the ability to summon Bahamut, hello), Evoker and Pilgrim. Evoker skills are based on summoning, while Pilgrims can use a staff to hook or yank their enemies. Bahamut’s new trials seem to welcome back the Warrior of Light. This is not your HTMLXIV catgirl Warrior Of Light, but the classic protagonist that saved the world many decades ago.
