REVIEW: Two Point Campus (PC), Earns High Grades
Two Point Studios quickly rose to the top of management game development. Two Point Hospital, their debut project, was a great success. It brought back memories of the hilarious and wonderful Theme Hospital while updating its visual flair to reflect modern technology, design sensibilities, and expectations.
The Two Point Campus developers draw on the lessons from previous work to create a fantastic and innovative game that propels this series and the subset of games.
The goal is to create a successful university in a series of situations. Players assume the role of the president or headmaster. Each mission has 12 different settings. The tutorials serve as tutorials and help you get up to speed. However, each scenario is very challenging so you can spend hours on each.
Two Point Campus, like many management games, is only for one player. However, online leaderboards allow you to compete with other players to make the best campus.
Two Point Studios has done a great job in the presentation department. The art direction is vibrant, clear, and easy to read, especially when dealing with large campuses during the final stages of a mission. Animations of characters are fun and dynamic. It’s a joy to observe student and staff interactions in corridors.
Although the soundscape is well-constructed with great music, some tracks repeat too often over long gameplay sessions. The best thing about the game is the funny writing. This is particularly evident in Two Point Radio, which plays in the background.
It makes the world feel like a real place, and I would love to return. Two Point Campus’ commentary this time is a lot more intelligent than the previous one, giving it a parodic self-awareness as well as narrative weight.
Two Point Campus is a huge success from a gameplay standpoint. It can maintain the spirit of its predecessor while taking many key innovations for a new experience. The game’s core management dynamics and mechanics are now more robust than ever and make the game even more enjoyable.
