The 2009 open world action-adventure PC game Prototype 1 (stylised as [PROTOTYPE]) was created by Radical Amusement and released by Activision. On June 9, 2009, the game was launched in North America. On June 10, it was released in the southwestern parts of North America, sometimes known as Oceania.
On June 12, it was released in Europe. On July 14, 2015, versions for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 were made available alongside the sequel as the Biohazard Bundle prototype. On August 12, 2015, separate versions of the games were made available.
The game, which is set in Manhattan, centres on Alex Mercer, a powerful but amnesiac shapeshifter who must end the Blacklight plague, which turns people into grotesque, vicious monsters. Alex attempts to learn more about his past on his quest.
