Phasmophobia Update: New Ghosts and Map Makeovers

It appears that Phasmophobia will be expanding its list of haunts. Kinetic Games teased in a series of previews its plans to add new ghosts in an upcoming patch. As usual, the Phas community has already begun investigating possible suspects.

Kinetic shared update plans via Steam. It teased blurry journal entries about two new ghost types in its Discord community and sparked discord. According to Romanian folklore, the Moroi is a vampire-like creature identified as such in the first post. This makes sense considering that the journal text mentioned the new ghost suffering from hyperosmia. The Moroi are known to hate strong smells. We will need to bring an extra smudge stick or a Bath and Body Works map to keep the ghosts away.

Phasmophobia‘s second blurry image is almost as difficult to read. However, I would have to agree with community sentiment: the first line says, “Sometimes surrounded in an endless fog. Desogen have been eluding Ghost Hunters for years.”

The rest of the description is ambiguous, but it appears that Deogen (or whatever it is) targets players by draining their sanity and further “stalks” them into exhaustion. It also can “constantly sense living,” accompanied by the warning, “You cannot run, but you can’t hide.”

The Phase continues to expand its list of terrors. However, there are plenty of quality-of-life changes and map reworks in the future. Phasmophobia‘s terrifying and notoriously large map, the Asylum is set for a complete reconstruction as Sunny Meadows. Kinetic claims that the changes will reduce it slightly but give it a little more personality. It wasn’t easy to distinguish rooms on the map from one another before the update. There are distinct areas in the new kitchen, yard and morgue, and a hospital wing.

Kinetic is also working on reworked player systems. The blog previews show Kinetic’s progress on custom difficulty settings, player reporting systems, and ID cards. These changes will be made via the main menu. Make sure to look around when you notice any UI changes. Phasmophobia will receive the Progression Update. This update will bring new investigation bonuses and the ability to personalize your encounters with paranormal beings through the expanded difficulty options.

Kinetic Games grew from a single-person studio to including two additional developers. A third artist was also announced in preview updates. This is a good movie, and Kinetic intends to increase its update cycle and work in frightening new locations ” along with other contents.” This is great news, as Phasmophobia continues to be a personal favorite of mine (even though I spend most of my investigations in the truck) and one that I always find my way to.
