“Obi-Wan Kenobi” Teases Return To Another Fan-Favourite Character
Fans have been fortunate to be able to enjoy a variety of Star Wars TV shows and film projects that satisfy our desire for an ever-expanding universe.
We are excited about the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+, which features the stars from the prequels Ewan MacGregor and Hayden Christiansen reprising the roles of former Jedi knights or Sith Lords. There is still much speculation about which Star Wars characters will be appearing in the series.
One Reddit user is speculative about a character they could see returning. User u/hs1481 posted a transcript of a conversation they had at the Imperial Commissary Collectors Convention. This convention is for sci-fi and toy collectors.
Ian McDiarmid, who played Emperor Palpatine throughout the Star Wars Trilogies gave insight into whether he will be playing the role of the phantom menace on any future projects.
“A certain show is coming soon, right around the time that I might have considered to be very active. It is not possible to say whether or not you will be able to see my physical body. You will feel my presence, however.
McDiarmid does not say what upcoming project he will star in, but he is definitely hinting at it. Although he does not mention Obi-Wan Kenobi, it is clear that the timeline in which Palpatine was active between the prequels to the original trilogy seems to be consistent with the show’s timeline.
McDiarmid has been speculated on by fans about other shows. Andor is another show that takes place before the events of the original trilogy. Star Wars The Bad Batch is an animated series that begins its second season. It takes place at the end of the prequel trilogy. This would be a fair guess about McDiarmid’s comment, that you might not actually see him.
