Santa Monica Studio and Thatgamecompany co-developed Journey. The famous Sony Computer Entertainment published it. This game was directed by Jenova Chen. It uses visual cut scenes and heavily relies on gameplay to tell its story.
The game starts with the character standing next to dunes. The desert will be vast and you will soon find yourself in front of a mountain. This mysterious mountain is full of secrets. The mountain is split by a large glowing crevice.
You will see signs of a once-wealthy civilization as you approach the mountain. It has been wiped out by time and sands. You can still find the stones scattered throughout the ruins to discover what went wrong. You will see a large, white figure in a circular room.
The walls will have art that tells the story of how the civilization came to prominence and fell. You will notice that the art mirrors your journey if you pay close attention.
You will face many challenges as you travel on your journey. The ending of this game is not clear, but it’s fun. There are two thrilling endings to choose from.
Gameplay
There are no lags and the gameplay is very smooth. The first goal of the player is to reach the top. The path to the mountain is split into several sections. You can adjust the camera angle to see the direction you prefer.
You can either jump with one button or shout wordlessly using the other. You can also use another button to produce a musical note. If you’re wondering how long the shout will last, you can rest assured that it will continue as long as your fingers are pressed.
The controls will be shown at the beginning of the flight. The magical scarf will allow you to fly. It doesn’t have unlimited power. You need to be close to the red cloth pieces that are floating about in order for it to recharge. The scarf will lengthen if you touch the glowing symbols in the game. You can therefore stay in the air for longer.
The scarf is a major weapon and tool for you, as the player. This is how you can get to difficult-to-reach areas. You will need to protect your scarf against stone creatures who might try to take it off.
