Two anime series are based on Fullmetal Alchemist manga. The first anime series is Fullmetal Alchemist. It follows the same plot as the manga for most of its run. Arakawa, the manga’s creator, encouraged Bone’s animation to create a new ending. The series’ progression is more divergent from its source material the further it goes.
