This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured a shocking title change. It was a special episode called “Fight for the Fallen.” Ricky Starks won his FTW Championship against Danhausen but then opened the floor to a second challenger, who turned out to be the ever-popular HOOK.

Starks was astonished when HOOK stormed into the ring. He gave Starks every challenge he could and locked in the Redrum finisher. Ricky then taps out ‘Absolute Ricky’ in the middle. HOOK now has the title of FTW Champion, a title his father, Tazz, made famous in the 90s/early 00s.

Starks and HOOK appeared to have a moment of respect after the match, which was shocking. This effectively made Starks a babyface. ‘Absolute Ricky’ took the microphone to hand over the FTW title to his partner Powerhouse Hobbs. It was a nice touch to give it some prestige, but Hobbs soon betrayed him.

Although it was a bizarre series of events, these were the steps that Ricky Starks took to become one of the best players on the roster. In the coming weeks, we’ll see what happens next.

HOOK deserves congratulations for capturing his first AEW Championship.
