Fall Guys: 20 Million Play
While battle royale players may think of Fortnite and Apex Legends, Call of Duty Warzone might be more familiar, and Fall Guys is a much larger audience than those who have played since its launch in 2020.
It wasn’t easy to find someone who had not taken on the platforming array of challenges the game offers, even though it was recently made free-to-play.
This decision appears to have added positive momentum to the game, as it has now reached 20 million users.
This milestone is within 48 hours of the game being free on multiple platforms. The ‘Free For All! initiative brought the fun back to the forefront.
Mediatonic celebrated the feat on Twitter by using the official Fall Guys account. They wrote: “We reached an amazing 20 million players within the first 48 hours Free For All!” “See you next weekend, my beans!”
In addition, the tweet expressed gratitude for those who persevered despite failing to qualify for any of the game’s many challenges.
Fall Guys have had to deal with some issues recently. The switch to free-to-play has caused server problems that have made it difficult for players to locate sessions.
Multiple updates are being made to address these issues. Some players have been kicked out randomly and must rejoin to continue the fun.
Eurogamer reported similar issues occurred when the game launched on Steam and PlayStation 4 in 2020. The servers were overwhelmed by the sheer volume of potential players.
This is not a problem as Fall Guys have been transferred to Epic Games Store on PC. This isn’t surprising, considering Epic Games acquired developer Mediatonic in March 2021.
