Dev admits their MMO “Sucks” and decides to rework the entire game
It takes a lot of courage to admit that you made a mistake, whether it’s an apology to someone close or a public announcement about a sizeable digital distribution service. It’s refreshing to see someone admit to wrongdoings without sugarcoating or beating around their bush.
The latter camp is home to the developer of 2020’s Survival Last Oasis. Developer chad wrote an article on Steam titled “Last Oasis is Sucks.” It’s possible to believe this is a scathing review by a fan mistakenly. But it’s the Last Oasis developer.
Last Oasis, a mobile survival video created and published by Donkey Crew and released on Steam on March 26th, 2020. This is an exciting setting. According to the site’s Wiki, “the Earth has stopped turning, and survivors must constantly be on the move in order to stay within the habitable area between the cold dark and sun’s scorching heat.”
This is a great idea. It also has the potential to create a unique gameplay loop. Steam Reviews have been mixed since its release. However, the developers seem to be following their lead.
Chavez stated in the article that “It sucks” means that I don’t have fun while playing it. It doesn’t last as long as the survival games that I like. This bold statement is especially true when it comes to intellectual property. This demonstrates honesty and a clear understanding of what works and doesn’t. It is essential to look at your work objectively and recognize when something is wrong.
We are excited to see what the developers will do with Last Oasis in the future. We are waiting with our fingers crossed for a rebirth similar to Final Fantasy XIV’s.
