Assassin’s Creed Red’s destructible environments and stealth gameplay sound incredible.
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series has long been one of the company’s flagship franchises, seeing new installments nearly annually since it debuted back in 2007.
2023 will not disappoint with the unveiling of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, as fans look forward to returning to its roots with its focus on stealth gameplay – something which was somewhat diminished during RPG era of gameplay.
What will follow Assassin’s Creed Mirage? Ubisoft plans on releasing two impressive mobile titles: Jade set in ancient China is currently in closed beta stage while Red could follow shortly afterwards as its next big entry.
At present, little is known about Assassin’s Creed Red beyond it being developed by Ubisoft Quebec and set during Feudal Japan with Red being its codename. Ancient Japanese setting fans of Assassin’s Creed have long desired which may result in one of Ubisoft’s most highly anticipated titles ever produced.
Industry insider Tom Henderson recently provided Insider Gaming with new details regarding Assassin’s Creed Red. As reported, not only will it feature stealth gameplay with destructible environments – something the original series also did but not on such an expansive scale – it will now also focus on stealth gameplay with destructible environments!
Henderson mentions how in Assassin’s Creed Red players will have access to tools which enable them to break any object you would find in real life, such as screen doors. Screen doors may even be cut open. While not comparable with Battlefield-esque destruction of environments, Henderson notes it adds yet another layer to Assassin’s Creed Red that players will enjoy.”
Henderson also speculates that Ubisoft may reveal and release Assassin’s Creed Red by early 2024; which would align perfectly with Ubisoft’s regular release schedule of new titles in their series.
Setting its action-adventure game Assassin’s Creed Red in Feudal Japan, AC Red will feature two main playable protagonists similar to 2015’s AC Syndicate: male Samurai named Yasuka and female Shinobi (Rebeca). AC Red may take inspiration from AC Syndicate by adopting this method for two of its playable protagonists and stealth elements borrowed from Ubisoft series Splinter Cell for stealth gameplay elements. Assassin’s Creed Red will also take inspiration from Ubisoft series Splinter Cell for stealth gameplay elements used throughout previous RPG-inspired entries as it plans on being the last RPG-inspired entry of RPG style RPG entries as it appears this one will likely use elements borrowed from Ubisoft series Splinter Cell for stealth gameplay elements for stealth gameplay elements used within AC Red.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will release on 5 October 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Assassin’s Creed Red will follow shortly thereafter on these platforms.
